Blue Washed Wall

“Stay away from those people who try to disparage your ambitions. Small minds will always do that, but great minds will give you a feeling that you can become great too.”

  • How often can my youth/athlete train each week, and what is the ideal frequency?
The number of training sessions per week varies based on the specific program they are enrolled in. Some programs offer unlimited sessions, while others are limited to a certain number of days per week. Generally, 2 to 3 days of training per week is considered optimal, depending on the program.
  • What program is recommended if my youth isn't an athlete but wants to get fit?
For youth looking to become active, lose weight, or improve their fitness, the Personal Training program is ideal. Many of our participants discover their inner athlete during the Game Time experience and progress to training in our sports performance program.
  • Which 201 Sports program is best for my youth/athlete?
The ideal program for your youth/athlete depends on their goals and yours. To determine the best fit, please contact 201 Sports to schedule an evaluation. During this session, we will discuss the evaluation results and your goals to recommend the most suitable program for your youth/athlete.
  • What is youth sports performance training?
Youth sports performance training focuses on helping young athletes excel in their chosen sport. This training builds essential skills such as speed, agility, strength, and self-confidence. Additionally, effective sports performance training helps reduce the risk of sports-related injuries.
  • What are the costs involved?
Our programs have a range of pricing options to suit any budget. We provide both "pay upfront" and monthly payment plans. Additionally, we offer both contract and no-contract options to best meet your needs.
  • How many youth/athletes are in a class? / What is the class size?
Class sizes vary by program: One-on-One sessions Performance classes: 6 to 8 participants PEAK program: 1 to 4 participants
  • How long does it take to see results?
The time it takes to see results depends on the effort your youth/athlete puts into the program. Those who attend 2 to 3 times per week and actively participate in sessions often notice immediate improvements, with visible results typically emerging after several weeks. If you have any concerns about your youth/athlete's progress, 201SPORTS coaches are available to conduct an updated evaluation.
  • Does the program include weight lifting? I’ve heard it’s unsafe for young children.
Our programs primarily use bodyweight techniques to safely and effectively build strength. For athlete programs, carefully structured and supervised weight lifting is included. All strength training routines are designed and approved by experts in youth sports performance and the Rutgers Coaching Clinic, ensuring your athlete’s safety and well-being.
  • What sets the 201 Sports program apart from other youth sports performance programs?
Our founder, Shawn Kelly, has over 25 years of training experience and has developed methodologies specifically for sports performance. Moreover, we are certified to train youth, which requires a distinct skill set compared to training adults. Our focus is on providing specialized training for young athletes, not just expanding our services beyond adult training.
  • How is scheduling managed?
201SPORTS provides 50-minute to 1-hour sessions at least once daily, often with multiple sessions per day. With most youth/athletes training 2 to 3 times a week, this schedule offers maximum flexibility to accommodate busy schedules. We also offer classes on Saturdays and sometimes Sundays. Please contact us for detailed scheduling information for your location.
